Instrument Rating (H) Single Engine
For helicopter companies working in the offshore industry, it is a requirement to have an instrument rating, to fly to the oil rigs. When you start working, you also need a type rating for the specific helicopter the company is using.
Billund Air Center (BAC) offers an instrument rating course, and we have several years of experience. Beside the Danish students we have educated students from Great Britain, Germany, Holland, Belgium, France, Norway and Sweden.
Today BAC runs 2 Bell 206L helicopters and an ENTROL FNPT II simulator. The simulator is all over the world a fixed part of the pilot training phase. In many ways the simulator is more effective than real flying, because you have the opportunity of training specific situations again and again. By using the simulator you will also get a more attractive price.
More info about the simulator – Please see the ENTROL video at the bottom of this page.
The course consists of
- 35 hrs in our FNPT-II helicopter simulator
- 10 hrs in our Bell 206L IFR
- 6 hrs IR theory
- 1 hrs in our Bell 206L IFR (skill test time)
The course is 6-8 weeks long, and we start up new courses every month.
To start up the course following criteria’s has to be met
- Valid JAR/EASA-CPL(H). If you instead have a PPL(H), you can contact us and hear about the possibilities to get admitted.
- Valid IR- or ATPL-theory
- Valid medical
- Valid GEN radio certificate
- 50 hrs cross-country time. This requirement does not count if you have been through the integrated JAR/EASA-CPL(H)-education
If you do not have a Danish JAR/EASA-license, you need to contact the authority, who issued your license, to get Billund Air Center’s training program approved!
The price is including airport taxes and costs to the examiner. Costs to the Civil Aviation Authority (to add on IR in the licence) will be calculated separately.
If you do not already have a type rating on the Bell 206L, you will need to complete the Bell 206L type rating program, which will cost you additionally DKK 49.300,00. The price includes 5 hrs flying and a technical course (CBT).
